Our on-site Staithe Smokehouse adds another layer of authenticity, producing award-winning smoked salmon and other delicacies, prepared ‘low and slow’ to preserve their unique flavour. Our Restaurant and conservatory delivers a dining experience like no other, with coastal-inspired interiors and lots of natural light. Both the restaurant, conservatory and adjoining terrace provide unrivalled views of the tidal marshes, Scolt Head Island, and the sea beyond. Whether you’re enjoying a leisurely lunch, watching Norfolk’s spectacular sunsets, or stargazing under clear night skies, this is coastal dining at its finest.

For a more laid-back vibe, the Locals Bar offers a warm and welcoming retreat. Located at the front of our gastro pub, it’s the ideal spot to relax with a refreshing pint from Brancaster Brewery or one of Norfolk’s finest ales. With casual indoor seating it’s perfect for a snack or satisfying pub dish after a day exploring Brancaster Beach or the surrounding marshes.

Our recently refurbished Courtyard is designed for al fresco dining. Featuring ambient lighting, cascading flowers, and comfortable seating, it’s an idyllic space for enjoying Norfolk tapas or small plates from our open kitchen. Perfect for soaking up the coastal air!

Open from Easter through autumn, our bespoke Marshside marquee brings the outside in with roll-up sides and shaded seating, offering unparalleled views of the marshes and Brancaster Staithe Bay.

Sample our Seafood Platter to Share, featuring the freshest Brancaster mussels and oysters, sip on a refreshing cocktail, or enjoy local wines from Burn Valley Vineyards alongside rosé from Provence. Meet Our Executive Head Chef, Fran Hartshorne

Fran Hartshorne, our incredible Executive Head Chef, has spent over 15 years shaping The White Horse’s reputation as a destination gastro pub, serving exceptional food, including seafood dishes and delicious pub grub classics. With a passion for Norfolk’s incredible produce, Fran works with local fishermen, farmers, and producers to transform freshly caught mussels and oysters, seasonal game, and foraged treasures like samphire, sea beets, mushrooms, and local asparagus into dishes that celebrate the region’s unique flavours.

“I feel like the luckiest chef on the Norfolk coast, crafting dishes in a kitchen that overlooks the stunning tidal marsh – it doesn’t get much better,” says Fran.

Fran also runs the on-site Staithe Smokehouse alongside her partner, producing award-winning smoked salmon and other delicacies that honour Brancaster Staithe’s rich fishing heritage. Her skill, creativity, and deep connection to the Norfolk coast ensure every meal is a true taste of the region.
